I have a thick beard, I have to shave every day. I shave my head twice a week. The six blades are just too close together to shave quickly and smoothly. These do not work for me. My beard is above average thickness so your millage my vary. If your beard is thick and grows fast like mine try the cartridges with few blades.

On a typical week I shave perhaps three days since my hair growth is slightly slower than others and my hair pattern is medium thickness. With that said, using the 6 blade shaving system 1000 I found the shave smoother, less irritation from hair snags and the blade is longer lasting maintaining a sharper edge throughout. Thus far in three weeks I have yet to change the blade since it does not accumulate residue from the shaving cream and the Aloe strip is still intact. The razor blades are also mighty durable and nearly free of nicking even with my sharp jaw line. The cost of the handle and blades will save me in the area of $70 this year alone and furthermore, I'm not the sucker stuck in the grocery store aisle spending $5 per blade. The vibrating Gillette handle I used to carry is now just a gimmick proven by my satisfaction of clean and painless shaving with the Dorco system. I enjoyed this so much, I even sent my buddy (Med school alumni roomie) a set for his own use.
I highly recommend this investment and I will not switch back to Gillette any time soon.
Hope this review helps you make the switch!

I have been shaving for over 40 years and the cost of razor blades is ridiculous. I figured it was time to try and find something else out there and low and behold I found Dorco. These blades outperformed my old blades for about half the price. Awesome. Cheaper and Better.

I've been using schick hydro 5 for some time, and tried this razor; I like it better and the cost is about half for replacement blades. Nicey nice!

The razor I had used for several years was discontinued. A friend referred me to the 6 blade Dorco and I was very impressed. No more nics and the blades last a while. I shave my head and face so I need a good blade.

great blade at a great price. much better shave than shick and gillette. lubricating strip works well. lasts as long as store brands. works well with cremo shaving cream, too.

Chanced across Dorco and tried out the 6 blade system. My first shave was a revelation: I had shaved the previous day, and the first Dorco shave was probably the most comfortable shave I have ever had. That's saying something, because for years I have avoided shaving two days in a row due to sensitive skin. I also shaved comfortably the following day.
That said, I left a gap of three days of growth (i.e. shaved on Wednesday and not again until Saturday), and that was NOT comfortable. Mind you, that was with the same blade, and even at that, I used the blade again without issue on Sunday. The point is that if you have thick growth, or are leaving several days between shaves, you'll likely want to use something else for those occasions (I'm going to try Dorco's 2, 3, and 4 blade systems to see how those work).
But for a very economical and comfortable daily shave, I absolutely rate the Dorco 6 blade system with 5 stars.

Got the razor on February 15th. Have used it every day since to shave both face and head, using only one cartridge. Best face shave I've had in years; really smooth. As good or better head shave than my Headblade. I'm going to try the two-blade cartridge in my Headblade sport. Spouse used it one time and said "Get me some!!", so I ordered her a set.

I compared the SXA1000: 6 Blade System for Men with the Gillette Fusion Power razor, with their 5 blade cartridge, which I have used for a couple of years. I found that with the power on, the Gillette gave me a slightly better shave. With the power off, the shave was equal to the SXA1000. The BIG difference between the 2 systems is the cost of the cartridges, as the DORCO is much less expensive and the blade lasts a little longer. If I skip a day shaving, which is about once a week, I will use the Gillette Fusion Power razor and if I shaved the previous day, I will use the DORCO. I hope that DORCO is thinking about producing a power razor, which I think would be awesome.
