Great Value, Good Shave, Some Drag

Posted by Robert Romoff on 11/19/2013

The razor is a good value. It shaves well, and is attractively priced. It tends to drag across the face, however, probably due to the weight of the handle and the number of blades. I am happy with the purchase and bought a number of blades to go with it, but next time I'll try one of the three- or four-bladed models.

IMHO, Better than Fusion!

Posted by Peter V Quaglia on 11/19/2013

I recently returned to wet shaving after almost a decade of electric. I had been shaving my head and face with a Braun 790 until I discovered the Headblade, which is without question the best head shaver I've ever used. Although the Headblade can be used on the face, it is difficult to get a great shave due to the fact that the Headblade device is specifically designed to shave the scalp and is difficult to hold for face shaving. I had a brand new in box (10 year) old Fusion that I broke open, but was less than impressed with the results, and found it to be very irritating. I am not sure if my Fusion was the latest incarnation since it was 10 years old, but it was brand new. Based on the recommendation of a friend I ordered a Dorco Pace 6. I had my first shave this morning. I can honestly say my (face) shave is better and with less irritation than the Fusion at a fraction of the price. I wish Headblade made an adapter for Dorco blades!

Excellent Product

Just as good as my Hydro 5's.

Great Razor

Posted by James King on 11/18/2013

I have been looking for a reasonably priced razor for a long time. The 6 blade Dorco razor is as good or better than the more expensive Mach 3 that I had been using.

Excellent

I tossed my Mach 3 for this. Excellent product and very affordable. If you think about the money one spends on cartridges every year, this is the solution to lower that insane amount. Great quality, 6 blades and a trimmer. I've never understood why cartridges are so damn expensive. This is a perfect fit to my budget.

Good but not great

Posted by Rob on 11/16/2013

Like many here I used a Gillette Fusion ProGlide which is an awesome razor but the price for blades is ridiculous. So I tried the Dorco, because of positive reviews and low cost.

You get what you pay for. The Dorco razor head is too big and thick for me, and does not flex as much as the ProGlide. I found it difficult to get under my nose and the sides of my lips. Granted there is one more blade than the ProGlide but I'd rather have one less blade and a smaller razor head!

The trimmer is extremely uncomfortable - big disappointment. It feels like it is literally ripping the hair out of my sideburns. The ProGlide trimmer is far superior.

The blade release mechanism does not work as it should - you have to put your finger BEHIND the button, not ON the button, and push to get the blade to release.

When my 20 blade supply is gone I will likely either go back to ProGlide or try Harry's even though their blades do not have a trimmer option.

Good product, great for the price.

Personally I think I'll drop down to the 4 blades next time, I just feel the 6 were a little unnecessary.

That being said, as of yet, I don't have any issue with the blades themselves. I didn't shave for over a week and they worked perfectly fine without any trouble. So I would think they'd work even better while shaving more regularly.

works well

Posted by Eric on 11/14/2013

I like the shave from this razor. The only thing is because it has 6 blades, it was a little tough to get under my nose so I have to use the trimming blade. The trimming blade could use some improvement as I usually have to go over it several times to get a close shave.

Good as if not better than Schick and Gillette

Posted by Tom Clelland on 11/14/2013

These blades are just as good as if not better than Schick or Gillette. The price is unbeatable.

Fantastic Razor

Posted by Joshua Berg on 11/13/2013

I have nothing but good things to save about the razor. I have managed a whole week of shaves out of the current blade including shaving my head.

Not simply the best blade for the money. The best blade, period.

I bought two handles for me and my son. I'd been using triple blade disposables and my son used the pricey Gillette Fusion system. He raves about how the Dorco Pace eliminates the scraping and nicks he got from the Fusion.
I'm happy to eliminate the plastic waste of using disposable blade, but I'm much happier to upgrade my shaving experience without draining my wallet.
I'm very satisfied with your razors!

As smooth as it gets

Posted by Rene LeBlanc on 11/13/2013

Over many years I followed the technology from the early safety razors that would last one shave (at best), then to the blue blades that (might) last three shaves, and then to a series of stainless blade configurations. Usually I found Gillette to be the gold standard to beat. Until the blue blades came out, I used my own straight razor for a number of years, but that always felt like a hazardous thing to do the first thing each morning. Most recently I have been using the five-blade Gillette Fusion Proglide with the vibrating power handle. These ARE good, but oh so expensive! So I tried the Dorco SXA 5000 six blade with trimmer at a much more reasonable price than the Gillette cartridges. I have been very impressed by the Dorco unit. Even without a vibrating handle, the shave is AT LEAST as smooth as I get from the Gillette Fusion Proglide. In fact, I tried shaving half my face with the Gillette and the other half with the Dorco, and I cannot differentiate the number of strokes or the closeness of the shave. The Dorco works so well, I decided to order a set of the 3-blade Dorco cartridges to see if there is any disadvantage. I haven't tried them yet, because the original six blade Dorco refuses to wear out. After a couple weeks, the original cartridge still feels and shaves the same as the day it was new.
