Nicks and cuts skin much more frequently than a Fusion

Posted by Alex O on 8/26/2013

I bought this system based on decent reviews and as an alternative to the Big brands that charge $4 or more per razor. I have used the Dorco twice on my mustache area. I don't have too much hair there and used the single grooming blade as well as the regular side. I had about 3-4 cuts the first time I used it and one the second time I used it. Have not used it on my chin/neck area. Kind of scared to. I wish I could have found a good alternative to the big brands but alas I don't believe this is the answer. Might have to invest in a safety razor, have friends who have them and swear by them.

No reason to buy Mach 3 or Fusion anymore

Posted by Jesse on 8/26/2013

Absolutely no reason to keep Gillette in business by supporting the robbery they commit on people with the price of their razors. These razors work just as good if not better than the Mach 3 or Fusion and they without a doubt stay sharper and last longer.

Not the Fusion killer I was hoping for

Posted by Bill on 8/25/2013

Like many here, I've been looking for something comparable to but less expensive than the various Gilette Fusion cartridge systems. Based on the reviews for this product, I was hoping I had found it. Unfortunately, while it offers a decent shave at a good price, I will be going back to Fusion once I've run through the 20 cartridges I bought for this system (since it can take months to become truly accustomed to a new razor, in my experience).

While there are a few shortcomings, the real problem with this system is simply that the individual razor blades are nowhere near as sharp as the Gilette blades. Using brand new blades (and I tried several packages to make sure), and my standard shave cream (the truly excellent Kiehl's "White Eagle" 31X), there is significantly more tug on my 1 and 2-day stubble than there is with the Gilette blades. This, coupled with the fact that the head is a bit larger, the moisturizer strip isn't quite as moisture-izy, and the grippy rubber surface is a little *too* grippy, makes for an inferior shave, even given the benefit that the cartridges are a lot cheaper, and thus can be changed out more often at an equivalent price/shave.

If Dorco can come up with a way to make extra-sharp blades (or maybe even feather blades, a'la safety razor blades), they will have a killer product on their hands. Unfortunately, as of right now, they don't.

Best value and performance

Posted by J Janssen on 8/24/2013

I tend to wait several days between shaves, so my razor has to work hard, especially given the tough hair on this old face. The Dorco 6 blade with trimmer powers through with no trouble and leaves a smooth finish after a second swipe at some tough patches. Works great and is a great value. Better than the Fusion I was using at $8 or $9 a pop.

Great buy

The 6 blade system shaves real close. I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the shaving.

I love this razor!

I'm a woman and have found the six blade razor to be fantastic. I like the solid feel of the handle on this razor, and the blades last a very long time and they do a terrific job.

Equal to the best Gillette

Posted by Pierre Brisson on 8/20/2013

This razor works easily as well as the five blade Fusion from Gillette. I haven't used it long enough to speculate as to longevity but I haven't noticed any degradation in two plus weeks. Totally pleased!

Dorco Money well spent

Almost went with blade of the month, Glad I found Dorco...

Great razor

Provides a very smooth shave. I really like the trimming blade for tough to get to area like under the nose.

Amazing!

When replacement blades started to become a budgeted item, it was time to look elsewhere.

First stop was electric shavers. I bought two very highly reviewed and expensive models and after giving them both 2 months I had to abandon them because they cause sever neck burns.

Stop two was DE safety razors. I studied up on them and bought all the necessary gear including a Merkur Vision DE razor. I gave up after 6 weeks because in truth, I don't need my morning shave to be a 10 minute ritual. Shaving to me is not "sexy or manly", I just want to get it over with.

Stop three were the SXA5000 6 Blade with Trimmer System from Dorco. Finally an affordable razor and replacement blade system that does an outstanding job! I have been using this for 6 weeks now and I am impressed. The handle is metal, so there is some weight to it that is balanced perfectly. The six blades clean out very easily and stay sharp. I shave daily and after 4 weeks I finally changed blades. The shave is smooth and effortless. No snags, no tugs, just an easy glide. So long to those overpriced vibrating Gillette systems forever!

Razor and blades

Good product for the money. Wish there was more space between blades. They clog easily and can only be cleaned with old toothbrush. I will stay with the product.

razor & blades

Have been using Fusion went to the 5000 very good razor but blades don't last as long as Fusion but for price its a better deal. Do get a good shave. Seems to clog more than name brand blades.
