From electric to blade
Posted by Thomas Leithauser on 9/9/2013
For years I have used electric because my skin took a beating from the blade. Over the years I have tried the blade with the same result. So Dorco was another effort to keep my costs down. What they don't tell you is that electric blades have to be replaced and can be expensive even at places like Amazon. And they can get dull a lot sooner than you know.
I am very pleased with Dorco and have none of the blood baths of the past. I kept the electrics for an occasional quick touch up.
For the price, you can't get better

Thanks Dorco---glad I found you!

I was never in doubt about this razor because so many people left positive reviews but here is my input after day one.
(1) The budget shipping was super fast.
(2) I love the quality and the firm grip of the handle that came with the trial pack.
(3) I shaved using the 6 plus blade with trimmer and it was awesome. Smooth shave and no blood...I always seem to nick myself whenever I shave but this time was smooth sailing.
I have only used the 6 plus blade but I love it and I am sure I will be using that from here on out. I love the trimmer. I will still use the other cartridges that came with the trial pack but 6 plus is for me when I reorder.
Thank you Dorco
Best way to check several out at one time!

I have enjoyed trying out the different blade types offer with this Trial pack. Looks like I'm a 4 blade guy for my face and bald head! 6 blade worked fine but it seems like the 4 blade laid on my scalp better. I did find I had to keep the handle laid down further than my Mach3 had to be.
After figuring that out it has been smooth shavingever since.
So far real good

I like what I have used so far. As good as, if not better than brand names.
Looking (and feeling) good so far!

Just received my first package of Dorco shavers today. Got the Pace Trial Pack as well as the 3-blade trial pack so I'd have another handle for my travel kit, and I wanted to try all the different blade systems.
So far, the packaging is awesome. Didn't need a chain saw to open either of the blades! :) I love the blade holders. The Pace3 even has a suction cup you can stick up on the shower wall to hold the shaver. I really wish the Pace6+ had something like that because the Pace6+ handle doesn't quite fit correctly in the Pace3 holder and it falls out easily in the shower.
Anyway, the fact that all the shaving cartridges can be used with both handles (common docking) is AWESOME!
On the Pace 6+ plastic holder/case, does anyone have a clue what the little hinged flip-up blue piece of plastic is for? It seems like there was thought that went into designing that for some purpose, but I can't figure it out for the life of me.
OK.... So on to the first shave. I used the Pace 6+ blade w/ trimmer. Shave was smooth and easy -- felt great! Pulled a little on my moustache, but I seem to have that problem with every blade I've tried in the past. I must be sensitive there. I tried using the trimmer on the back side of the cartridge for trimming my sideburns and some of those stragglers around the ears. Worked pretty good, but I did cut my ear. Need to get used to the correct angle on that trimmer!
Overall, I'd say I'm very pleased so far. Love the idea, love the company, LOVE the price! I'm never buying another overpriced Mach3 cartridge again!
Good for the money

Okay, let's get this out of the way. These razors ARE NOT Fusion, Mach 3, or Quattro killers. They are comparable to a name brand disposable. With that said, I would consider them again because they are so cheap. Cheaper than disposables. A safety razor offers much better performance for less money if you are on a budget. I seem to get, on average, 5 shaves with the blades. I found the 3 blade not too effective, the 6 blade pretty good, and the 4 blade the best of the bunch. I found I have to go over the same areas multiple times to get an acceptable shave. This leads to irritation. They are well made and clean easy. For the money, a good razor. Just not the revelation many make them out to be. 3 stars for performance. 4 stars when price is factored into the equation.

Did not expect much as we all have been burned by "buying" cheaper only to find quality was also lacking. But Dorco products deliver on both price and quality. Will definitely re-order now that I have been pleasantly surprised by the great products!
Comparable to big name brands.

I bought the trial pack and havent looked back. These are every bit as good as any of the big brands out there, for a fraction of the price. No brainer!

Haven't had time to use ALL items in the trial pack, BUT the razor handles nicely and the 6 blade cartridge system... THE best ever and I'm 77 yo!!

I seldom write product reviews, but after finding this razor, I would like to make sure the word gets out so Dorco won't have to result to expensive advertising. Keeping your head clean shaven can quickly become an expensive and painful venture. Dorco solves both problems. The main issue with cheaper blades is that they are not flexible. Apply too much pressure and the blade bends out of shape. Cheaper blades that are flexible are not sharp enough to do the job. Traditionally Gillette was the only blade sharp and flexible enough to shave my head which is 10x more sensitive than my face. The Dorco blade is both sharp and flexible making for a great shave on the face and head. More importantly, the blade seems to stay sharper longer than Gillette. Since I bought this razor, I have been shaving my head about every 2-3 days and after 3 weeks I am still on my first cartridge. In the future I will probably change cartridges every 2 weeks but i want to see how long i can go before being forced to change. If you shave against the grain, the blade may take some getting used to because it responds to pressure a little differently than the Gillette.
Also, I can now change the frequency of my head shaving. Even with the Gillette (probably the best blade available in the store) I either had to shave every day or only 2x per week. There is a period in days 2-4 where the hair is just coming out of the scalp that I could not shave without great pain because even the Gillette would pull the hair out of the follicle. For some reason I do not have that issue with the Dorco.
The variety pack is a great way to start off with the Dorco. I got 2 packs of the 6 blade cartridges and one each of the 3 and 4 cartridges (plus the handle and 2 additional cartridges) for the same price I would pay for a single set of cartridges from Gillette and that included shipping and handling. I'm glad I got the variety pack because there is a difference between the number of blades. Men with coarser hair may find the 4 blades better because they are spaced differently and it's harder to get a close shave with the 6 blades. When I order another handle, I will be using the 4 blade cartridge for my face, where my hair is coarser and the 6 blade for my head, where my hair is finer.
Thanks Dorco for a GREAT product! You have revolutionized shaving for bald men everywhere!
You'll never go back to a big name brand

Without a doubt dorco are the best razors I've ever used. I have tried all major brands over the years, even electric. After more than a decade with Gillette, one shave with the pace was all it took and I'll never go back. Dorco is higher quality, and smoother shaving. Not to mention the ease of ordering online.
